FAQ

If I am feeling sick, What should I do?

If you are experiencing any symptoms of sickness, reschedule your massage at least 24 hours before your appointment. When your body is fighting a virus or infection, massage is not helpful. All of your efforts should be put into fighting the infection. It is hard to breathe face down on a table when your nose is stuffed up and nausea is made worse when body fluids are being pushed around. Massage raises your body temperature and makes fevers worse as well. Stay home, drink fluids and arm your body with vitamins and rest. Rescheduling is easy.

What do I wear during a massage session?

Dress for comfort. Missy likes to have the option to do some assisted stretching to assess mobility and flexibility so it’s nice to be wearing athletic clothing to start. When it’s time to get under the sheets, most people prefer to disrobe down to their underwear.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Depending on which treatment you get you can expect to feel the following changes. For lighter therapeutic work (Intuitive Flow session) you will feel more relaxed and less stressed. You might feel more energized and clear-minded and less overwhelmed by daily stressors.

If you go in for deeper work (Deep Diagnostic session) you might feel sluggish and heavy. Specific aftercare for Deep tissue should be followed, 1 Gallon of Water within the 24 hours of your massage (before, immediately after, and the rest of the day) a heating pad for 15-20 min, and a mild anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen can help with the after session pain; you should never need more than your average dose to make it through the next day. The aftereffects of Deep tissue can affect you for up to 3 days, the first day after your session will be the most sensitive with the effects tapering off by the third day. If the effects are severe such as feeling like you are unable to lift or move your limbs, achy all over, or nauseous the next day, your body is having a hard time flushing the toxins, that have been reintroduced to your system, from your body due to dehydration. Make sure you are drinking enough water and are getting enough electrolytes and vitamins to help strengthen your immune system while you flush the toxins from the fat and muscle tissue. A warm soak in Epson salts is strongly recommended when you get home after the service

If you schedule a Performance Enhancement session it ranges from being a quick focused treatment with a few adjustments in a specific area to a longer treatment with more integrative work. Typically you’ll feel more mobile and tight areas will feel looser. Depending on your treatment plan, you will either be prepared for competition or training immediately, or you will be beginning your rest cycle.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently, I am accepting Paypal, Cash, Venmo, and Cards. Processing fees may apply. If you are an insurance patient, you will fill out all your insurance information and provide contact info to your adjuster who will be directly billed at the end of your treatment plan.

Are you mobile for special events?

Yes. Missy is available for special events (employee appreciation, sports events, etc.) please contact her directly for details. Generally, the pricing will be $100 an hr, (of hands-on time), and any travel expenses associated with the booking if it is out of the Bend area will be added to the pricing. Customization starts from that foundation.

Can minors get a massage?

Yes, Minors are permitted to receive massages in the clinic. A parent or legal guardian must be present in helping complete the Health History Form for the minor, along with consent for the massage therapy session.

Guidelines:

Minors (all clients under the age of 18 – unless otherwise emancipated) can only receive a massage with written parental/legal guardian’s consent. In collaboration with the consenting adult and child, the massage therapist will assist in establishing goals for the session(s). For clients aged 15 and under, the parent/guardian must always be present in the treatment room. For clients aged 16-17 if both client and parent/guardian are comfortable with the child being in the session room by themselves, they will need specifically signed permission. Otherwise, the parent/guardian should be in the treatment room during each session. Once a comfortable therapeutic relationship has been established and the massage therapist, child, and parent are comfortable the parent/legal guardian does not have to be present in the room. Appropriate draping will be used at all times during the massage, only areas being massaged are uncovered or the child will be wearing loose clothing such as a tank top and athletic shorts during the session.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept insurance for motor vehicle accidents only at this time. Please make sure ahead of time that you have a current claim number. Usually, you will be coming to see me because you were referred to me by a chiropractor. If that is the case, then you have insurance that accepts massage therapy. When you book the 60 minute - Insurance Referral session, you will be prompted to fill out an intake form providing all of your insurance information.
